SQL Server Performance Tuning Consulting Service:

AGENDA:

Identifying and analyzing SQL Server Query execution performance issues. To provide recommendations to improve query performance by optimizing data structures (like data types, indexes and table partitioning), rewriting stored procedures, functions and queries, optimizing temporary table and variable usage, tweaking plan caching, optimizing query memory grants, creating plan guides and tuning parallel query execution. Analyzing concurrency issues and providing recommendations to improve performance and to avoid lock waits and deadlocks.

Monitoring SQL Server workload and analyzing wait types: To provide performance best practice guidelines on server and database configuration, administration and maintenance including database and tempdb file configuration and location, file group, data compression, indexes, statistics, fragmentation. Best practice guidelines on Database Mirroring, Database Snapshots, Backup Compression, Transparent Data Encryption and Resource Governor configuration based on workload.

Monitoring SQL Server hardware configuration and utilization: This will include recommendations to add/remove CPU, Memory and Storage capacity to maximize the utilization of existing hardware resource and to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Deliverables: Presentation and written report summarizing findings and recommendations as prioritized action items.

Duration: Onsite: 3 to 5 days. Offsite is possible.

Prerequisite: Customer has to provide a short introduction with description of database performance issues. Optionally customers can have some members of their development and administration team to participate during the onsite engagement in order to learn and continue the tuning process.

Feedback from past Consulting Engagements:

Troels, NNIT A/S, Denmark, www.nnit.com on Offsite Consulting Engagement:
Seeing you work on a real production system / problem was very impressive - structured approach and using the very same scripts and tools that you showed during the course. Very nice!

Tatjana, Operations Managment, Kapsch TrafficCom AG, Vienna, Austria, www.kapsch.net:
We are very satisfied with Ramesh's onsite consulting engagement; he did an excellent job by helping us identify major performance issues in our SQL Server application and by providing ways to address those issues. We are also satisfied with the report he wrote and with the conference call he participated.
As a result we are planning to engage him on a regular basis to keep our SQL Server performance optimal. We would be happy to recommend Ramesh to anyone who has performance issues related to SQL Server.

Stein Ove, IT Manager, Komplett ASA, Sandefjord, Norway, www.komplett.com:

You have helped us a lot with the job you did for us. In my opinion, this is one of the best SQL engagements I have ever seen.
As I said, you have done an excellent job for us, Thanks a lot !!

Egil, Developer, Det Norske Veritas AS, Olso, Norway, www.dnv.com:
Thanks for the workshop. I found it very useful as the topic that you presented on Thursday was directly relevant to my everyday work as a developer. The level of detail was excellent, and issues concerning the handling of execution plans relating to stored procedures was especially useful. The accuracy of your findings was very good and I look forward to reading your report as well.

Johannes, Developer, Det Norske Veritas AS, Olso, Norway, www.dnv.com:
We found the workshop very useful. We learned how to attack the kinds of problems we have, and got some concrete solutions to some of our most serious problems.
